Dr. Charles P. Goldsmith Dr. Charles P. Goldsmith, of Allentown, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in the LutherCrest Health Center. He was the husband of the late Kathryn E. (Reinbold) Goldsmith. Born in Hokendauqua, he was the son of the late Clyde C.C. and Ruth (Porter) Goldsmith. Charles was a Captain with the 53rd Medical Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Temple Medical School. Dr. Goldsmith was an ophthalmologist from 1948 until 1987. He had his own practice in Allentown during that time. He was a member of the former St. Michaels Lutheran Church, Allentown, where he was a former councilman. Dr. Goldsmith was a member of Greenleaf Lodge #561 F.&A.M. He was also a member of the American Medical Society, Lehigh County Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Survivors: Daughter, Mary G. Westhuis and her husband Arrien of Allentown; son, James C. Goldsmith of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Dr. Goldsmith was predeceased by a son, Thompson P. Goldsmith.
