In Memorium Dr. Esther (Sis) M. Wenrich

Obituary:

Dr. Esther M. Wenrich, 97, of Jenkintown, PA died on October 5, 2013 at   her home. Born and raised in West Reading, PA she was the daughter of the   Late Rev. Elmer F. and Norma K. Wenrich. A brother, Edward, pre-deceased her.   Preparation for her teaching career was at Kutztown University where she   received a B.S. in Education. Her graduate training was at Teacher College,   Columbia University, NY where she earned two degrees - an M.A., and an Ed.D   in School Administration. For fifteen years she taught in the Spring Township   School District in West Lawn, PA. While at Teacher College she was an   instructor in The Department of Curriculum and Teaching. She did an   administrative internship in the public school in White Plains, NY. She   retired in 1971 after sixteen years as Director of Elementary Education in   Neshaminy School District, Langhorne, PA. While in graduate school Dr.   Wenrich lived at International House for three years. She made friends with   other students from all over the world. She maintained life-long contact with   many whom she visited on her trips around the world. Before or during her   retirement she visited every continent. Dr. Wenrich spent fifteen summers on   the staff of Camp Hagan, Shawnee-On-The-Delaware, PA, nine of those years as   Directress. Survivors are a niece in Arizona and a nephew in Surbiton,   England; two grand nieces, one grand nephew and two great grand nephews. Her   body was given to The Humanity Gifts Registry. A Memorial Service is planned   for November 4, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1224 Melrose   Avenue, Melrose Park, PA 19027 where she was an active member since 1955. In   lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested for The Esther M. Wenrich   Scholarship Fund, Neshaminy School District, Attn: Superintendent's Office,   2001 Old Lincoln Highway, Langhorne, PA. 19047. This fund was established by   the elementary school staff upon her retirement. Its purpose is to aid   deserving Neshaminy graduates who aspire to be elementary school teachers.
