A little background for the last 35+ years?

Haven't missed a year at a Lutheran camp since I could start attending camp. Graduated from Penn State - Harrisburg in 1977, worked in radio and television news until 1991. Then after five years with the United Way of Lebanon County, PA, entered Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary in 1996, graduated in 2000 and have served two congregations in the Lower Susquehanna Synod (ELCA). During most of my seminary years (1997-1999) I was the summer director for Camp Nawakwa, one of the two camps of the Lower Susquehanna Synod. Now serve as one of the assistants to the bishop in the synod. Was part of the planning team for the first September reunion in 1985. Being at Bear Creek for the September reunion is an important weekend in the year for me.

Favorite Camp memory?

There are several: Senior group in 1971 (last year as a camper) CIT in 1972 Seeing the river during Hurricane Agnes Unloading the trailors when the final move to Bear Creek was made in 1974

  • Are you related to the Eshbach's in Bushkill?  My mother was a close friend with Russ Eshbach (now deceased, but a well known politician.)

  • Why cripes.....it's abot time vunct. Welcome to the site! I hope you enjoy the photos and stories and add some of your own. I had dinner with the Feesers a couple of weeks ago and we capped off the night with a lager at the Kempton Hotel. I told them that you held dual citizenship in Pottsville - they were unaware of your pilgramages and wanted to make sure you visited them in Schuylkill Haven on your next tour of Yuengling. Dave
