September 10th 2021 All Camp Reunion Annual Delaware River Canoe Trip

In spite of last year’s pandemic, a stalwart crew of paddlers had a grand day on the Delaware River during our annual all camp reunion canoe trip. This year, in addition to the canoe outing, we will be dedicating a wayside exhibit featuring the three river camp sites in the valley at 5:00 PM. But first, we’ll canoe twelve miles from the Bushkill Access to Smithfield Beach past the old river camps – Hagan, Ministerium and Miller. Please plan to be at Chamberlain Canoes near Shawnee on the Delaware by 9:30 AM so we can depart at 10 AM.  Bring your Covid 19 face mask, swimsuit, water shoes, sunscreen, camera, lunch and beverages for a great day on the river.  The cost is $34 per person for a canoe rental and $40 per person for a kayak rental. If you want to bring your own canoe or kayak the cost is $26 per person for boat transportation and shuttle service.  Paddlers must be at least 6 years old. Pre-Register at Chamb

  • Sep 9, 2020 at 2:00pm to Sep 12, 2020 at 3:00pm
  • Location: Shawnee Village
  • Description:

In lieu of the now-cancelled 2020 Wayside Exhibit / 50th Anniversary celebration, a few of us that are within driving distance of Shawnee-on-Delaware are having a little "family" vacation and renting condos in the Shawnee Village.  This will not be a formal reunion by any means, but still, a good opportunity to see old friends and make some new ones that share a love of the camps.  We will make up the activities and agenda as we go and as Covid allows.

    Be there if you can!

We could really use some help with a fun camp memorabilia project. We're hoping to complete the Hagan mural restoration work at Bear Creek Camp on Saturday April 27th during their Work Weekend activities. We've already built and finished the oak frames; the remaining steps are installing the murals in the frames, fastening battens and cleats to the frames and mounting cleats to the dining room walls. All of the hardware is on site but please bring cordless drills for drilling pilot holes, screw drivers and work gloves.

Bear Creek Camp will provide meals and refreshments. Please RSVP the camp office at (570) 472-3741 or bccamp@bearcreekcamp.org so they can have a head count for meals.

If you have any questions please contact me at (610) 285-2238 or daveil@fast.net

Please pass this invite on to your camp friends. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Walk or bike ride to the Camp Sites

  • Jun 23, 2012 from 5:00am to 8:00am
  • Location: McDade Trail by the River
  • Description:

Walk from Smithfield Beach parking lot to Miller site.  Parking costs $7.00 per car.

Walk from Freeman Tract Road (the gravel road off River Road leading to Hagan) parking lot to Hagan site.  Parking is free but limited.  There is more to see at Hagan because it is not so overgrown as the Miller site.

If  you plan to leave the McDade Trail and explore the sites wear long pants and long sleeves and wear bug repellent.  Ticks were found in April they certainly will be plentiful in June.

We can not start at Shawnee.  The  McDade trail starts at the Hialeah picnic area.  We can not walk on River Road.  The locals do 50 mph and above.

    Hi All,

Below is a message from Don Hayn, the Interum Director at the Bear Creek Camp.  Don recognizes just how important our memories of Camps Miller, Hagan, Ministerium, and Miller-Hagan are to us.  There are several trailers of items that have been stored from the Camps of our youth, and the folks at Bear Creek need our help to determine what items are important to us and what items should be disguarded (or given to us as remembrances of our summers there).  The date to do this is September 24th and Don would like a head count so that they can accomodate those of us that can make it.  I hope to see many of you there.
