1968-1972

A little background for the last 35+ years?

Attended private Christian high school and college. Graduated with a degree in speech communication. Worked in Sales and Marketing for a large maker of baby products. Married in 1992, four kids. Blessed beyond measure.

Favorite Camp memory?

I was a terrible swimmer (still am). Couldn't win award patches beyond the "White Arrow" because it always included swimming tasks. One year, because of flooding, high water and fast currents, the waterfront was closed, and they waived all the swimming requirements. That summer, I achieved nearly every achievement patch available!

  • Hello Jay - Sounds like we were campers around the same time, from 1968-75. I missed the summer of '71, which was the first year Miller had merged with Hagan (pretty sure). Missed going to camp so much that year that I had to come back in '72! Usually for the last two weeks of the season, but for the final four weeks in '74 & '75. Who were your counselors??? - RG

  • Jay,

I do remember the squatter incident and many others from the following years at MH. Chuck Weber and I met some of them in 1973 when i was a JC. A few of them were good people trying to live off the land; most were just a bunch of party bums looking for some good dope.

Mountain's real name was John Everitt - there were so many John's in his cabin one year that the counselor gave them all nicknames. He was always a bit on the big side and his last name is a lot like Everest so that's how he got the handle Mountain.

i'm still going to hold out on the bevel thing until we meet in person.

I am pretty familiar with your neck of the woods. I have fond memories of French Creek State Park - maybe we can meet there for some disc golf sometime.
